An ongoing national letter-writing campaign to Congress launched in September by advocates for the homeless is scheduled to be featured during a 6-minute segment Dec. 12 on the Nickelodeon cable network. The segment includes footage shot at Aurora-based Hesed House, an agency that serves the homeless.

The Forget-Me-Not campaign sends seed packets to grow the tiny blue flowers to members of the U.S. House of Representative in a attempt to sway them to vote to guarantee education for homeless children.

In October, the House passed the Students Results Act, which included an amendment proposed by U.S. Rep. Judy Biggert, a Republican from Hinsdale, incorporating elements of an Illinois law into the federal statutes.

Efforts are now being directed at U.S. senators.

The packets were donated by W. Atlee Burpee & Co. in Warminster, Pa.
