County officials are considering new job descriptions for certified nursing assistants at Valley Hi Nursing Home and the Health Department as a way to justify pay differences.
Three months ago the county raised starting pay for nursing assistants at the nursing home to $8.25 an hour. But county officials left starting pay unchanged at $7.85 for Health Department nursing assistants.
The county is considering another 50-cent an hour raise for Valley Hi nursing assistants as one way to fill vacancies.
Last month Public Health Administrator Robert Murray complained that Health Department nursing assistants were being left out.

But Valley Hi Nursing Home Administrator Jon Platakis said the Health Department does not have chronic job vacancies and high turnover.
