Mundelein High School is looking for a new principal to replace John Davis, who will retire at the end of the school year after 35 years with the district, 12 as principal.

District 120 Supt. Arthur T. Newbrough said this week that the district has received 23 inquiries and has 13 active applicants.

The application deadline is Monday, but Newbrough said he would accept them through Thanksgiving weekend.

Screening interviews will begin Dec. 1. The district plans to select the principal by the end of February.

The principal, who will be paid at least $90,000, will be selected with the help of six interview teams made up of school board members, teachers, staff, parents and students.

Each team will have the opportunity to interview the top finalists in February.

Newbrough said the opinions of each team member will be taken into consideration when he makes the decision on whom to recommend for the job.

Newbrough has been meeting with the interview teams, made up of 15 to 20 people, to develop a list of attributes for the new principal.

Applications should be mailed to Arthur T. Newbrough, superintendent, 1350 W. Hawley St., Mundelein, IL 60060.
