A 76-year-old Park Ridge woman was killed and three Park Ridge police officers were injured in an apartment fire Tuesday afternoon, according to reports.
A neighbor noticed smoke coming from the apartment building in the 200 block of South Vine Avenue at 4:15 p.m. and called 911, according to police.
Several officers were reportedly in the process of attempting to rescue the woman when Park Ridge Fire Department personnel arrived.

The woman, whose name was not released late Tuesday, was pronounced dead at 4:49 p.m. in Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The officers were transported to Lutheran General, where they were treated and released for unspecified injuries, she added.
Police late Tuesday would not release any other details about the fire, including the extent of damage to the building.
The fire is under investigation by investigators from the Fire and Police Departments as well as the Illinois fire marshal’s office, according to reports.
