Houghton Mifflin, 31 pages, $16
Henrietta is a pig with a plan. Spurned in her attempts to apply to law school (it discriminates against animals), she nearly despairs, but eventually her knowledge of Shakespeare and Greek tragedy helps get her in. Soon she’s part of the Supreme Court. David Mamet’s parable about exclusion isn’t always subtle, but the illustrations leaven the political message with whimsy and grace.
