State Rep. Susan Garrett (D-Lake Forest) has been appointed to the secretary of state’s Advisory Committee on Business Services.

The committee of Illinois law professors, attorneys, members of the Illinois General Assembly, and business and labor leaders, is mandated to review and enhance statutes relating to the conduct of business affairs in Illinois.

“I am honored . . . As a legislator and a woman who founded my own business, I will bring a unique and essential perspective to the table,” Garrett said.

Members donate their time to ensure that laws governing Illinois businesses accurately reflect today’s business practices while protecting the interests of shareholders, management, creditors, employees and the public.

In a release announcing the appointment, Secretary of State Jesse White said he believes Garrett and other members of the committee will ensure Illinois’ position as a leader of business opportunities nationwide.
