After trailing by seven points late in the first game, second-ranked St. Charles (32-2, 13-0) stormed back to beat Waubonsie Valley 16-14, 15-4 and remained unbeaten in Upstate Eight play, where they haven’t dropped a match in two years.
Lauren Harks had 10 kills and four aces and Caroline Frede added 21 assists to help spark the Saints comeback in game one.
“I gave the kids yesterday off (after winning the Autumn Fest)” St. Charles coach Jennie Kull said, “and maybe we weren’t as focused as we needed to be at the outset. It was a good comeback.”

Minooka d. Geneva 14-16, 15-2, 15-11: The host Indians rallied after dropping the first game to stay unbeaten in the Suburban Prairie Red. Ryane Beasley’s 16 kills and Cyndi Norman’s 38 assists paced Minooka (28-4, 13-0).
Evanston d. Waukegan 15-12, 16-14: Akiliah Rodgers had 10 kills and Teesha Block added eight kills for Evanston (17-17, 5-4) in the Central Suburban South.
