A disposal company representative this week outlined some options for New Lenox residents tired of the expense and inconvenience of buying village-approved orange garbage bags.
Tom Agema of Nu-Way Disposal, the company that handles refuse pickup for New Lenox, said the village can retain the “user-pay” system by offering residents a choice of three sizes of rented garbage toters or stickers for garbage bags.
Trustees also asked Smith for leaf disposal ideas.
Agema said the company has several systems, including a four-week leaf pickup period designated by a village, and a discount-priced yard waste sticker for leaves in the fall.
Village Administrator Russ Loebe said officials will discuss the various options. The town’s refuse disposal contract expires in July.
