A truck dealership is slated to open this year along North Avenue, which is fast becoming automobile row in the village.
The Plan Commission this week approved a conditional-use permit allowing a Sterling truck dealership to relocate from Franklin Park to a long-closed automobile dealership on North Avenue, east of Bloomingdale Road.
Sterling will sell heavy trucks, ranging from dump trucks to snowplows and tractors out of a 22,000-square-foot building.
The service department will be open until midnight, a move which prompted concerns about noise from residents living east of the dealership. In granting the permit, commissioners said the service department must close the overhead doors after 9 p.m. to cut down on noise.
The project now goes on to the Village Board, which is expected to discuss the matter Thursday during a committee of the whole meeting.
If approved, it will be the fifth car dealership to take a spot along North Avenue in Glendale Heights.
