To non-marine biologists, the most amazing thing about the Shedd Aquarium’s 90,000-gallon Caribbean Reef is that the big mean fish, however well fed, don’t eat the tiny pretty fish. Even Sunday, when the reef exhibit — featuring inhabitants such as flat yellow stingrays, parrotfish and royal grammas, plus fancy underwater cameras — reopens after four months of renovations, there’s little chance of a fish fight breaking out. The reef, built in 1971, contains about 250 wet residents, from eight-foot sharks to slippery eels. The aquarium, at 1200 S. Lake Shore Drive, is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (on Memorial Day, it’s open until 6 p.m.). Basic admission is $11 for adults, or $9 for children and seniors. 312-939-2438.
