Barrington–Citizens for Conservation is seeking volunteers to help restore a native landscape during Earth Week. Work sessions are scheduled for April 22-24. A meeting for interested volunteers and the general public on the progress of Wellness Place, a community-based center of psychosocial support for those living with cancer, will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. April 12 in the public library, 505 N. Northwest suburbs–The Northwest Center Against Sexual Assault will be conducting volunteer-training sessions beginning in May. Volunteers provide advocacy and assistance to victims and survivors of sexual assault at area hospitals and police departments. Volunteers also facilitate role-play empowerment and violence-prevention education to area schoolchildren. Volunteers gain crisis-intervention skills, free medical and legal training, and public speaking and outreach experience. Call 847-806-6527.

Schaumburg–Volunteers are needed for the 29th annual Septemberfest Labor Day weekend on the grounds of the Municipal Center. Morning, afternoon and evening shifts are available. Volunteers receive a T-shirt and a parking pass for the day they work. Call 847-895-0007.

Volunteers are needed for the Woodfield Area Charity Organization’s third annual United Softball League, beginning July 13. The league combines Special Olympics athletes with volunteer players from the community. Games are played at 6 p.m. Tuesdays in Palatine and Rolling Meadows.
