A Glendale Heights auto dealership and an incentives package to help pay for renovations to the building in which it would be housed appear headed for formal approval next month by trustees.

Trustees last week tentatively OKd a conditional-use permit to allow a Kia dealership to open at the far west end of the Glendale Heights Shopping Center. Two hundred late-model used cars also would be shown and sold there. The automobile center would be in a 40,000-square-foot building the owner plans to renovate.

As an incentive for the dealership, the village is offering to reimburse up to $1.2 million in sales-tax proceeds over the next seven years to help pay for renovations.

Formal approval of both plans is expected at the next Village Board meeting, scheduled for April 1.
