Prompted by the prospect of hosting the Illinois State Little League Championship, Steger village trustees have authorized $3,200 for general repairs to a multipurpose building in Hecht Park.

Steger’s Little League is negotiating to host the state championship, scheduled for the first week in August. The five-day event will draw the state’s top five teams. The winning team will represent Illinois in national competition at Williamsport, Pa.

Village Trustee Jim Johnson said the building in Hecht Park has needed repairs for a long time. “It’s been in dire need for years.”

The building serves as a concession stand, an equipment and uniform storage facility and a restroom. It is owned by the village but used exclusively by the local Little League.
