A 34-year-old Waukegan man was being held Tuesday in the Lake County Jail on a $20,000 cash bond for allegedly sexually abusing the 9-year-old daughter of a co-worker, authorities said.
Heriberto Ramirez, of the 100 block of St. James Street, was arrested Monday and charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to Assistant State’s Atty. George Strickland.
Ramirez allegedly molested the girl at a Sunday afternoon birthday party he threw for himself at his home, Strickland said. Strickland said the abuse occurred when the suspect cornered the victim in his bedroom.
Waukegan Police Capt. Donald Johnson said that after the alleged incident, the victim approached her father and told him that she wanted to leave the party, but not why. Later that evening the girl told her father, a co-worker of Ramirez’s, that Ramirez had fondled her, and the father called police, said Johnson.
