After a successful inaugural event last year, organizers of the Kane County Relay for Life plan to kick off a second fundraiser with a meeting Thursday at the Eagle Brook Country Club.
Anyone interested in learning more about the event, or organizing a team, is encouraged to attend the 5-to-9 p.m. event. Registration is $20 a team for the relay, which begins at 6 p.m. June 25 and ends at 6 a.m. June 26.
Last June’s all-night walk around Elfstrom Stadium in Geneva raised about $168,000 and attracted 107 teams of walkers. In Illinois, about $5 million was raised for cancer research. This year, organizers say their goal in Kane is to raise $200,000 with about 125 teams. For information, contact the Kane County American Cancer Society office at 800-942-6985.
