Another major player is taking part in Chicago’s high-rise condominium construction boom.
Called 1122 North Dearborn, the Surf Development project on the Near North Side is a 27-story brick structure with limestone detailing.
Eighty percent of the 104 units have been sold, according to Peg Sorenson, broker associate with Koenig & Strey, which is marketing the project. First move-ins are slated for May.
The remaining three-bedroom units have 1,750 square feet and are priced from $375,000 to $460,000. Many units have views of Lake Michigan.
Still available is one penthouse with 11 1/2-foot ceilings. Nine-foot ceilings are standard in the rest of the building.
Each unit has a private balcony or a garden terrace. Indoor parking is $29,900 extra.
Designed by Pappageorge Haymes Architects, the tower was constructed on land formerly occupied by the Children’s Home and Aid Society and a parking lot.
Amenities include 24-hour doorman, roof deck, exercise room and community room.
The sales center for the building is at 1030 N. Dearborn St.
