As a precautionary measure, Hoffman Estates officials are advising residents in certain parts of the village to boil their water for two days starting Wednesday.

Parts of the village water system will be turned off so crews can lower a water main as they widen Roselle Road, officials said Monday afternoon.

About 100 residences along Bode Road and Flagstaff Lane, west of Roselle Road, will be affected. The homes will be without water for about six hours starting about 8 a.m. Wednesday.

For the 48 hours that follow, those residents should boil for at least five minutes any water used for drinking, cooking, dish washing and teeth brushing. Water that is used for bathing does not need to be boiled, officials said.

The village also plans to notify the affected residents through hand-delivered advisories.

“While they’re doing this construction, we want to err on the side of good judgment and safety, so we’re taking these precautions,” said Village Manager James Norris.
