So imagine our excitement when we found out about Levi’s Original Spin Program, which allows you to create a pair of jeans that are specially designed to fit your personal style, not to mention your waist and rear. Here’s how it works:
Go to a Levi’s store that features the Original Spin Program (Chicago’s Michigan Avenue Levi’s store does). There, you can choose from three basic jean models: relaxed, classic or low cut. Plus, you can make your jeans as baggy or as fitted as you want and pick a color.
Next, choose from five leg openings: flare, wide, boot cut, straight or tapered. Finally, pick a fly: button or zipper.
Now get the clerk’s attention. He or she will measure your waist, rear and inseam, then hunt up a test pair for you to try on. (Cool. It’s kind of like giving a demo car a test drive before you plunk down cash.)
If you like what you see, all that info goes into the computer and is zapped down to the Levi’s factory in Tennessee, where your personal pair will be stitched. The jeans cost about $55, plus $6 if you want them shipped to your home. (There’s no charge if you go back to the store to pick them up.) All this takes about two weeks.
