State Rep. Judy Biggert (R-Hinsdale) has been honored by the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference as the group’s Governmental Leader of the Year.

The award was presented to Biggert on Thursday at a meeting of the group’s board of directors. It recognizes her efforts in the state legislature on behalf of municipalities, said Desmond Ryan, assistant director of the conference.

Biggert, 61, is running for the 13th Congressional District seat in the U.S. House, but Ryan said the award was not intended as a political endorsement.

Biggert’s opponent in the congressional race is Democrat Susan Hynes, 49, owner of a corporate communications firm in Naperville.
