Stevenson 40, Waukegan 12: No. 15 Stevenson led 12-0 at the half and then scored on three consecutive drives in the third quarter to pull away. John Dervishian had 114 yards on 15 carries, John McKay added 102 on 18 carries and Mike Scaramella ran for three TDs (1, 1 and 3 yards) to lead the Patriots.

“This game was a good measuring stick for us,” Stevenson caoch Bill Mitz said. “It was good to finally find out where we’re at. And aside from some missed tackles at the end of the game on kickoff returns and late runs from scrimmage, I was pretty happy and proud of the way our kids played.”

Bolingbrook 27, Minooka 0: Senior tailback Kevin Hatch, who suffered a pulled hamstring in practice Wednesday, still managed to gain 168 yards on 24 carries for No. 16 Bolingbrook. Hatch scored on runs of 2 and 53 yards, while teammate Mitchell Marshall (seven carries, 78 yards) had touchdown runs of 3 and 21 yards.

“Hatch showed that he can play,” Bolingbrook coach Phil Acton said. “He is pretty capable of giving us more than he did today.”

Antioch 42, Plainfield 30: Antioch outscored Plainfield 20-8 in the fourth quarter for the victory behind Brian Johnson’s two touchdowns, including one on a 1-yard plunge after Adam Podstawa returned a kickoff 88 yards.

Buffalo Grove 28, Warren 14: Buffalo Grove prevailed despite turning the ball over five times, including on three of its first four possessions. Brad Wendell (9 for 17) threw for 162 yards and added 84 yards on the ground and a touchdown for the Bison. Dante Daniels rushed for 63 yards a touchdown to lead Warren.

“We wanted to make a point today that this a (slightly) different Buffalo Grove team than in the past,” Bison coach Rich Roberts said. “There were a lot of positive things along the way. The only negative thing was a couple of penalties and putting the ball on the ground.”

Carmel 50, North Chicago 28: John Styx carried 11 times for 120 yards and scored three touchdowns as the Corsairs rolled. Rich Federer recorded three of Carmel’s 10 sacks.

Deerfield 26, Streamwood 13: Streamwood opened the scoring on a Brian Sloan 8-yard run, but Deerfield responded with 26 unanswered points. David Byrd rushed for two TDs, and Brian Horders scored on 67-yard run to lead the Warriors.

Lake Forest 20, Geneva 8: Andrew Magda rushed for 188 yards, and Aaron Towle added 116 on 18 carries as the Scouts had 326 yards on the ground in the victory.

Leyden 17, Schaumburg 14: Julio Alvarado kicked a 22-yard field goal with 21 seconds remaining in the game. Mark Mele began the Eagles’ scoring with a 4-yard run and Matt Mele scored on a 19-yard quarterback keeper. Jermaine Shaw led the Eagles with 212 yards on 23 carries. Pierre Griffin (21 carries, 96 yards) scored on a 30-yard run for Schaumburg.

Maine South 33, York 6: Maine South’s defense didn’t allow York a first down until late in the second quarter as the Hawks jumped to a 19-0 halftime lead and rolled. Mike Kavka ran for two TDs for the victors.

Marist 28, Brother Rice 0: Joe Piko’s 69-yard touchdown run sparked a 21-point first half as the Redhawks eased past its neighboorhood rival on Friday night. Quarterback Eric Schaller connected on a 29-yard touchdown pass to Tom Syska to open the scoring. Then two plays after a Brother Rice fumble, Piko outraced Brother Rice defenders to make it 14-0.

“Piko’s run is what really broke our back,” Brother Rice coach Bill Gleeson said. “The game kind of fell away from us after that play.”

Nazareth 42, Immaculate Conception 12: Phil Reed scored five times and rushed for 171 yards on 27 carries to spark the Roadrunners. Reed scored three of his five touchdowns on the ground and added a 38-yard TD reception and a 77-yard kickoff return. Nazareth quarterback Adam Tybor was 11 of 20 for 116 yards a touchdown.

Wheeling 36, Highland Park 20: Tavares Chamblis rushed for 231 yards on 20 carries and scored twice for Wheeling.
