In Kathleen O’Grady’s column “What does it take to be a man? The age of apology” (Commentary, Aug. 21), she writes: “Inequities between the sexes in the familial contract are not at issue; men have misused the power that is naturally accorded them.”
What are the inequities she refers to? What is the power that is naturally accorded men in a familial contract?
Inequities and power are not terms that can be associated with a strong relationship. If “power” and “inequities” are prevalent in modern marriages, it is hard to imagine why the divorce rate is not much higher than it is.
