While my three nephews and one niece must rely on Barney and Beanie Babies for childhood entertainment, I was fortunate to grow up at a time when all I needed was Jack Brickhouse broadcasting a Cubs game on WGN and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to be happy.
Although Mr. Brickhouse’s voice has been silenced, in my heart I’ll always hear him describing a clutch pinch-hit double in the eighth inning by my favorite childhood Cub, Larry Biittner.
