With aldermen disagreeing over whether an annexation agreement with the developer of the proposed Prairie Trail South subdivision should require a fence along part of the property, much less dictate its height, the City Council has voted to amend its proposed annexation pact to raise the fence’s required height from 4 feet to 6 feet.
The council also voted to eliminate maintenance of the fence from the proposed special service fees that will be charged to subdivision residents for ground upkeep.
The developer, Beechen & Dill Builders Inc. of Burr Ridge, wants to build about 96 homes on 54 acres on Batavia’s southeast side near a 20-acre farm where owners Tom and Lisa Sennstrom house several animals, including a buffalo.
Despite reservations, John Martin, attorney for the developers, said his clients would agree to the higher fence if it meant the project could go forward.
