A town home development first proposed in March to be built on 40 acres at Interstate Highway 80 and Oak Park Avenue has been approved by the Village Board.

West Point Meadows, a development of 135 attached and 105 detached townhouses, will be marketed to senior citizens, empty-nesters, dual-career couples and single professionals. The units will range in size between 1,272 and 1,975 square feet, and all will have private patios.

Trustee Patrick Rea said he voted for the project despite his reservations “out of respect for the staff” of the village.

Trustees also approved another town home development earmarked for land on the west side of 94th Avenue near 172nd Street.
