Aunt Martha’s Youth Services Inc. is opening a new health clinic that will offer residents services ranging from immunizations for children to prenatal care, free blood pressure checks, and primary and preventive care for children and adults.
“We needed the space really bad. Our present clinic has only two examining rooms, but with the new clinic we will have six rooms,” said Andrea Durbin-Odom, a spokeswoman for Aunt Martha’s.
The clinic will be open in time to offer school physicals and immunizations for area children. Physicals cost $20, and immunizations are $6 per shot.
Dental examinations will be available through the Family Health Society, 44 W. Lincoln Highway, at a cost of $15.
An open house and health fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 22 at the new clinic, located at 1644 Vincennes Ave. The clinic will be christened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and is being held by Aunt Martha’s and the Family Health Society.
The society is a collaboration of St. James Hospital and Health Centers in Chicago Heights, Cook County Department of Public Health and the Chicago Heights, Homewood and Matteson Rotary Clubs. It provides care for the working poor, uninsured and underinsured who are residents of the south suburbs, Turner said.
Aunt Martha’s, a private, non-profit service organization, provides counseling, education, foster and residential care, health care and other services for children and families.
Public aid and insurance will be accepted. Appointments are required. Call Aunt Martha’s at 708-756-2001 for physicals and immunizations, and Family Health Society at 708-754-0746, for dental examinations.
