Finding land for residential construction sometimes requires the use of the wrecker’s ball.
That was the case with Creekside Pointe, a 36-unit condominium development by Burnside Construction Co. in downtown Barrington.
An office building had to be demolished to make way for the new project on Illinois Highway 59 (Hough Street), a block south of U.S. Highway 14 (Northwest Highway) in the northwest suburb.
Construction already is under way at Creekside Pointe, which is planned for two three-story elevator buildings. They were designed to appeal to homeowners already living in the Barrington area who want to move down in size and maintenance without moving away from friends or relatives, according to Jodi Satko, director of sales and marketing for Burnside.
The eight floor plans range in size from 1,360 to 1,860 square feet and in price from $219,990 to $275,990. Premiums of $2,000 apply to second-floor units and $4,000 for third-floor units.
Each 18-unit brick building will have three residential floors above below-ground parking. One indoor space is included in the purchase price.
The residences feature nine-foot ceilings, ceramic foyers and bay windows in the kitchens of all corner units.
First occupancies are scheduled for next spring. An on-site sales center is open.
