Glendale Heights trustees on Thursday night got a look at a controversial proposed automobile repair shop near Bloomingdale and Army Trail Roads.
Trustees are expected to reject rezoning the property from multifamily residential use to commercial use for what would be part of the Tuffy Muffler Shop during their scheduled Aug. 20 meeting.
They also are expected to turn down a conditional-use permit for operation of the facility, which would be built close to the Stratford Estates complex at Bloomingdale Road and Gladstone Drive.
Residents attended Plan Commission meetings in June and July to object, not to the rezoning of the property, but to the project itself. They said the shop would create too much noise and traffic, and the fumes would endanger public health.
Owner American Heritage Group is asking the village for the rezoning and conditional-use permit for a 3,800-square foot repair facility.
