The search for a village manager has ended, with Mayor Fred Dewald announcing this week that the Village Board has voted to offer the job to Henry Sinde of St. Charles, Mo.
More than 60 people applied for the job, Dewald said.
The search, assisted by Interim Village Manager Gordon McCluskey, has been under way since former Village Manager Jim Smithberg died early this year.
McCluskey, a retired village manager from Lockport, took over the job on a temporary basis.
Sinde is expected to start work in Romeoville on Sept. 1, the mayor said.
The board also voted to hire Heather Henkel for the newly created position of village planner.
The village staff is expanding to cope with a surge of growth and development, officials said.
