TOWNSHIP WON’T BUY LAND TO EXPAND

Expansion plans are moving ahead in New Lenox Township, but the plans won’t include buying land, officials said recently.

The plans, which include adding administrative space and a family services center to the current township headquarters and building senior citizen housing, will be more affordable if the project is done on land the township already owns, Supervisor Guy Sell said.

The design under consideration calls for a one-story addition to the New Lenox Township office for administrative space, a two-story family services center and a three- or four-story senior citizen apartment center on 3 township-owned acres at 1100 S. Cedar Rd.
