A 49-year-old Palos Hills man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges of first-degree murder in the death of a Frankfort woman who was his girlfriend and co-worker.
Barry McCarthy, of 11118 S. 84th Ave., entered the plea during an arraignment hearing before Will County Circuit Judge Rodney B. Lechwar.
McCarthy was indicted by a Will County grand jury last week in the death of Juliet Chinn, 47. He allegedly beat, strangled and stabbed her May 18 in her condominium, according to Frankfort police.
Police arrested McCarthy July 17. He has been free on bail after posting 10 percent of a $1 million bond. McCarthy’s next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 25 when he is to appear before Lechwar for a pretrial hearing.
