An agreement between Northern Illinois University in DeKalb and the College of Lake County in Grayslake will allow students who plan to complete a baccalaureate degree at NIU to enroll in both schools, beginning this fall.

Under the arrangement, College of Lake County students who meet regular NIU admission requirements can be admitted to both schools. NIU advisers will work with students to ensure that they enter NIU without losing credits.

“NIU has a long tradition of serving community college transfer students,” said NIU Provost J. Carroll Moody. “This is the second in what may eventually be a number of similar programs with community colleges in the northern Illinois region to ease the transition between those schools and NIU.”

NIU and Elgin Community College have a similar agreement. The NIU pact is College of Lake County’s first such agreement with a university.

Students in the dual-admission program may take courses at the two schools concurrently or attend NIU after less than two years at College of Lake County.
