A Libertyville man was killed and two brothers injured in what police said was an alcohol-related traffic accident in Lake Forest over the weekend.
The accident occurred at 7 p.m. Saturday on the 1500 block of North Waukegan Road.
Police said three men in a 1992 GMC Suburban were heading north on Waukegan when the sport-utility vehicle swerved into the southbound lane and, before it could get back into the northbound lane, slid into a ditch and rolled over.
The driver, Patrick Swenson, 28, of the 500 block of West Park Avenue in Libertyville was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:10 p.m., according to the Lake County coroner’s office.
Police said that Swenson had not been wearing a seat belt and that he was partially pinned under the vehicle.
The two passengers were identified as Christopher S. Volpe, 30, of 1563 Telegraph Rd., Lake Forest, and his brother Richard J. Volpe, 34, of 914 Safford Rd., Lake Bluff. They were treated at Lake Forest Hospital and released.
The brothers told police that they had been drinking before the accident. Police said they are awaiting blood-alcohol test results for Swenson.
