Having recently approved a $95 million office and hotel development at Meacham Road and McConnor Parkway, the Schaumburg Zoning Board of Appeals has also given preliminary approval to yet another major office project.
The developer of the latest project, Chicago-based Hines Interests Ltd. Partnership, proposed two six-story office buildings and two five-level parking garages for 29 acres on the northwest corner of Schaumburg and Martingale Roads.
“I think it’s really nice,” zoning board member Carol Hall said of the plans.

The project would be visible from Interstate Highway 290 and would create a “premier architectural statement,” said Greg VanSchaack, vice president of Hines.
The owner of the property, Frederickson Real Estate Improvement Co., Norridge, is in talks with Marriott Corp. to sell four acres to the hotel chain, Hines officials said.
The zoning board is expected to discuss the project again Wednesday. The Village Board is expected to vote on the plan Aug. 11.
