With no discussion, Glendale Heights trustees Thursday night formally approved a $38.5 million budget for the 1999 fiscal year.
The spending plan for the fiscal year that began July 1 includes money for park renovations and more construction projects.
Some trustees had complained that parks in their districts were not getting amenities, so the board had voted to add $150,000 for work at the village’s 15 parks in each of the districts, raising the total park budget to $412,000. The Parks and Recreation Committee will meet at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 5 to evaluate needs at each of the parks, said Trustee Larry Giampa.

With a windfall from interest income and bids for some capital projects coming in lower than expected, the village will add a water tower at Burdette Avenue to improve water service in southeast Glendale Heights. Village Hall also will get additional landscaping, new benches and an upgraded security system.
Also, the Police Department’s locker room will also be finished, and landscaping will be added at Armitage Ditch. Those projects, among others, will total $1.8 million.
