A Lake County judge has postponed the sentencing of three naked dancers and a club hostess convicted in an undercover prostitution investigation last month.
At a sentencing hearing Tuesday, a lawyer for the four women argued his clients never offered sex to anybody while working at Dancers in unincorporated Palatine and only talked about sex with an undercover police officer.
Arguing conversations about sex are part of a dancer’s job and protected by the 1st Amendment, Chicago attorney Joseph Obenberger asked the judge to reverse his guilty verdict or grant a new trial.

Associate Judge Patrick Lawler scheduled a hearing on the motion to grant a new trial for Sept. 14.
The dancers convicted of prostitution are Barbara F. Stromstedt, 31, of Round Lake Beach; Kelly L. Allport, 22, of Glendale Heights; and Andrea L. Mihalfy, 32, of Palatine.
The hostess, Victoria K. Kennedy, 41, of Algonquin, was convicted of soliciting for a prostitute.
