The Glendale Heights Plan Commission delayed action Tuesday night on a proposal to allow a children’s restaurant and indoor amusement park to operate in the Concord Greene Plaza at North Avenue and Bloomingdale Road.
The commission told officials from Jeepers, a national chain, that it wanted more information before making a recommendation on whether a permit should be issued to build a family-oriented restaurant geared for children under 12. The 24,000-square-foot business would have games, animated characters and indoor rides.
Commissioners said their questions involve security and child safety, and they want to make sure that plaza managers install a stop sign in front of the restaurant. Officials for the chain are expected to return before the panel Tuesday.
The conditional-use permit allows the village to determine whether indoor amusement facilities, such as bowling alleys or roller-skating rinks, will fit with other uses in the area. The conditions will be determined at the public hearing, officials said.
The southwest corner of North Bloomingdale has a major grocery, restaurants, bank and video store.
