Fifield Realty Corp. got approval from the Schaumburg Village Board on Tuesday to start a $95 million office and hotel project at the corner of Meacham Road and McConnor Parkway, next door to the IKEA store, which is under construction.
The 35-acre property was originally intended to have office towers, but Fifield received Tuesday a zoning amendment to allow two hotels and a restaurant as well as a pair of seven-story office towers.
One of the proposed hotels, La Quinta Inn, would have 171 rooms. The other, Studio Plus, would have 130.
An upscale Morton’s Restaurant also would be located at the site.
“You could access our site without interfering with Woodfield traffic,” said Steven Fifield, president of Fifield Realty.
He said the first office building is expected to open by spring.
Trustees also decided to stop running the village’s Dial-A-Ride bus service into Hoffman Estates, effective Aug. 28.
The action would affect only a handful of Hoffman Estates residents, Schaumburg officials said.
