Glenbard High School District 87 officials are hoping to have a draft report ready by early next month on a way to implement a state-mandated no-pass, no-play policy for all after-school activities.
Board members Monday night also indicated they plan to conduct community meetings during the fall before putting the controversial program in place at the end of December, as required by state law.
The board members said that while they hope to have a liberal policy, they want one with consequences severe enough to serve as a warning to students.
By Jan. 1, District 87, like all high school districts in Illinois, has to adopt a plan connecting academic performance to participation in after-school activities ranging from student council to the drama club.
For years, students have had to pass four classes to participate in after-school sports.
