The Romeoville Village Board has approved the site, landscape plan and engineering for a 120,000-square-foot retail development on the northeast corner of Weber Road and 135th Street.
The primary tenant would be a 65,000-square-foot Dominick’s Fresh Store, said Greg Anderson, village community development director.
Construction has begun at the site and the supermarket is expected to open early next year, Anderson said.
In other business, Mayor Fred Dewald has promised to have the village engineer check out a drainage problem in the Lakewood Estates subdivision.
Dan Wirkus, who lives on Winnebago Court in the subdivision, told trustees that rain regularly transforms his rear yard into “a swamp.”
