A man being sought in last week’s robbery of a LaSalle Bank branch in Mt. Prospect apparently struck again Monday, this time knocking off a neighboring First Chicago branch on Elmhurst Road, police said.

In Monday’s robbery, police said a man in his late 30s or early 40s walked into the bank at 1190 S. Elmhurst Rd. about 2:30 p.m., handed a teller a note that suggested he was armed, and made off with nearly $5,500.

No weapon was displayed, and police said it was unclear whether the man escaped by car or on foot.

Mt. Prospect police said the man’s technique and description closely matched those of the bandit who robbed the LaSalle branch at 1080 S. Elmhurst Rd. on Wednesday.

In both cases, the bandit was described as white, of medium height, with a thin build and wearing a blue baseball cap and sunglasses.

Monday’s bank robbery was the fourth in Mt. Prospect this year. Each of the other three robberies in the village this year occurred at the LaSalle branch.
