player ready...Just a stone’s throw away: When Clarendon Hills Village Manager Joseph Breinig didn’t see the stepping stones in the triangle of land that splits Prospect Avenue, the main drag, into a Y, he feared they might have been lifted by vandals.
“Not to worry,” said Katie O’Toole of the town’s volunteer garden club, which keeps the triangle in trim. “We’re storing the stones so they won’t be damaged during the business district’s ($1 million-plus) facelift.”
The 16-inch circles inscribed with garden sayings were donated by Stephanie Bryant of Clarendon Hills and Mark Oldis of Shorewood, owners of The Little Stone Garden, a stonework company.
“We expect the work to be completed by November,” Breinig said.
That’s when the circles will be returned to the triangle.
