Biking through beauty: Bike nights have been a bonanza for Morton Arboretum in Lisle, according to Kate Desulis, membership coordinator.
“They’re called Members Evenings, and a lot of people have told us they’ve joined the arboretum because of them,” she said. “It’s the perfect spot for people who want a safe place to ride in a beautiful setting.”
Revived two years ago, bike rides are held on six miles of roads closed to cars from 5 to 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through September. “During May, when the rides began, more than 2,000 cyclists took advantage of this wonderful outdoor opportunity,” Desulis said.
Membership ($45 per individual, $55 per family) offers safety in a sylvan setting, free admission and discounts on classes and gift shop items. For membership information, phone 630-719-2453.
