Restrictions: Purchase this non-refundable ticket within three days of making the reservation, changes subject to fee. The ticket will be marked as having been sold at a special fare and therefore subject to special conditions. You have to stay at least six days but no longer than 45, and you may travel only Jan. 9-March 31. No blackout dates. You can have a stopover (in this case, a layover of more than 24 hours) in Milan or Rome, if those cities are on the route that applies to this fare category, but it will cost you an extra $150.

It’s non-refundable in cases of cancellations or no-shows; but if you can prove that you were hospitalized, or if you or a family member dies, the ticket will be refunded. Any other changes are subject to fee, unless you are upgrading to a higher fare. Stay at least six days but no longer than 45. Travel dates are Aug. 12-Oct. 8, April 1-12 or April 28-June 20.
$1,059: On British Airways. They had this non-refundable fare for certain August/September travel dates, subject to availability. Stay at least six days but no longer than 45. Routes through London, with a high probability of a long layover.
$1,129: On Swissair. This non-refundable fare, which you must purchase by Aug. 31, is good for travel Oct. 19-Dec. 17. Stay at least six days but no longer than 45. And here again, if you can prove that you were hospitalized, or if you or a family member dies, the ticket will be refunded. No changes are allowed outbound, but returns may be changed for a $50 fee.
$1,495: On Delta. Another non-refundable fare good for outbound travel July 16-Aug. 12, subject to availability. Stay at least six days but no longer than 45. Routes through Zurich with a change to Swissair.
$1,866: On United. This is the fully refundable, unrestricted Coach fare. Routes through Frankfurt with a change to Lufthansa.
