A few changes are in store for this year’s Septemberfest, a three-day festival at the Schaumburg Municipal Center.

Members of the village Finance, Legal, Administrative and General Government Committee recently approved a $15,000 contract for fireworks displays to Melrose Pyrotechnics of Hoffman Estates. The contract is an increase of $3,000 over last year’s fireworks bill.

The committee also approved Anheuser-Busch Inc.’s Arlington Heights center as a sponsor of the event in return for a $10,000 contribution that will be used to help fund the festival.

A bid of $3,797 by Events Chicago for the rental of tables and chairs also was accepted by committee members.

Festival organizers have signed the rock band Kansas to perform at the event, and talks are in progress to sign the Buckinghams.

The Labor Day event attracts 200,000 to 250,000 people and will also feature 250 arts and crafts exhibitors plus a carnival.
