Cook County Judge Aaron Jaffee on Wednesday denied a request by the Jackhammer nightclub that he order police to mind their behavior while patrolling the property in Schaumburg.
“We asked for him to order the police to follow the law: Not search people, and not question people without reasonable cause,” said the owner’s attorney, William Kunkle.
Schaumburg Village Manager George Longmeyer said police are not harassing the nightclub or its patrons.
The club’s owner, Lou Owen, has alleged police have been harassing her customers and employees to fuel Schaumburg’s effort to close her business at 1450 E. Algonquin Rd.
Schaumburg officials recently voted to revoke the club’s business license, alleging Jackhammer is a nuisance that threatens public safety. Owen and her attorney deny the charges.
Owen is appealing the village’s action and has been allowed to remain open while the case is pending.
