This is the first release by Vega since the former salsa romantica star became a born-again Christian. It’s a surprisingly accessible collection of songs, most with a Christian theme, that swing as well, if not better, than his previous offerings. Vega’s still as much of a crooner as he ever was, but his harder offerings, such as the effective “Mi Iglesia,” rock with a new found exuberance. The lyrics may get in the way for some people; he’s pretty darn blunt and it’s hard to avoid what’s unquestionably proselytizing. Still, this is a rejuvenated Vega, and that can’t be bad.
