Residents who habitually fall behind in paying their municipal water bills will find the cost of having their water lines reconnected more expensive.
The Village Board this month boosted Steger’s charge to $25 for the initial disconnection, and $40 for subsequent disconnections. The village previously charged $10, less than the cost of disconnecting.
Trustee Ed Grollemond stressed the higher amount will be applied only to individuals who habitually fail to pay their water bills.
