A Kane County judge is expected to rule Wednesday on a blizzard of motions calling for a new trial for Edward L. Tenney, convicted of the 1993 murder of prominent Aurora Township widow Jill Oberweis.
Tenney’s attorney, William Glisson, alleged in Judge Donald C. Hudson’s courtroom Tuesday that judges and prosecutors were responsible for at least 85 errors during 19 months of pretrial maneuvering and a two-week trial that ended in Tenney’s conviction on first degree murder charges last October.
Tenney and another man, Don Lippert, broke into Oberweis’ home on Felton Road in October 1993 and shot the woman. Lippert has confessed to his role and prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against Tenney.
