A 65-year-old man was fatally injured Monday when he fell from a third-floor window at a Lake Zurich nursing home.
The victim was identified as James B. Dvorak, formerly of Hoffman Estates, according to Lake Zurich police. Dvorak fell from the window at the Lexington Health Care facility, 900 S. Rand Rd.
Dvorak was rushed to Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, where he died a short time later, officials said. Lake Zurich police said Dvorak suffered from dementia.
A spokeswoman for the nursing home declined comment Monday.
Jim Wipper, chief deputy coroner in Lake County, said the man was in another patient’s room at the facility when he removed the screen and climbed out.
The victim apparently suffered massive traumatic injuries, Wipper said. An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday. An inquest will be held in about six weeks, he added.
