Lockport’s baseball team received an effective pregame pep talk Monday from someone who knows a lot about winning–Porters girls volleyball coach Julia Hudson, who led her team to a state championship in 1994.
Vince, Matt and Mike Serafini translated Hudson’s words into an 8-2 road victory over No. 1 Andrew. The brothers had two RBIs apiece and Sam Shaw struck out nine for No. 3 Lockport (22-6).
“Julia Hudson talked to our team before we got on the bus and told them that Andrew thought our beating them last Friday was a fluke,” Porters coach Jim Hall said. “She told them, `Play mad . . . with an inner arrogance.’ “
Lockport pounded seven straight hits, including a two-run homer by Vince Serafini, and scored six unearned runs to take a 6-0 lead in the second inning. Andrew drops to 22-2.
